ice carving secrets: rabbit holding egg ice sculpture design
**updated 4/4/10**
Here’s a last minute rabbit design for (today). I had the design up earlier on my ice carving secrets fan page and it looks like I’ll be posting designs there a little earlier at times than on the main site simply from a convenience and speed point of view. This piece is cut out of one block and the color is added by sandwiching a cutout color gel in between two pieces of ice. The gel is cut slightly smaller than the ice surface but the final curved surface of the egg distorts the color, making it look like it’s almost to the edge of the ice. See the picture below to get a different view of the egg. The weld splits the egg and the paw and the gel will usually stay in place after the ice has melted away some, although it will be easy to remove.
This ends up being a fairly lightweight piece and is easy to lift if you leave the grass at the base a little bit thick so that it can be used as handholds.

If you have any questions about this piece, email me your comments (see below). If you would like to use this design or any other design on this site, please check the design usage guidelines. The design collection page lists designs on the site.
