ice carving secrets: sculptures by Dean Carlson and Ben Rand

 

    Dean Carlson has long been recognized as one of the top competitive ice carvers around. He’s a two-time National Champion, most recently winning the 1996 event in Scranton, PA. Ben Rand is recognized as a top competition carver as well, and competed at the most recent (2006) Olympic event in Pragelato, Italy and took second in the 2008 National Championships. Together, they create fantastic sculptures for events in South Florida and beyond through Dean’s ice carving company: Styled Ice Inc. (561-795-1151) Dean is also the inventor of an innovative upright CNC machine for carving sculptures known as the I-Sculpt (see the picture with the foam swan.) Enjoy!
